An Air India flight on the same route as the crashed AI171 was cancelled due to a technical fault.

Just days after the fatal crash of Air India Flight AI171, which killed 241 people, another flight on the same route was cancelled due to a technical issue.

Flight AI159, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner, was scheduled to depart Ahmedabad at 1:10 p.m. local time Tuesday, bound for London Gatwick. The flight was suspended after a technical glitch was discovered during routine checks, leaving passengers stranded.

According to CNN News18, the aircraft had arrived earlier from New Delhi before the issue was identified.

AI159 is the renumbered version of the Ahmedabad–Gatwick route, previously operated as AI171, which crashed into a residential area last Thursday. Authorities have since ordered inspections of Air India’s Dreamliner fleet.

There were 159 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese passengers, and one Canadian on AI171. Only one person survived—40-year-old British father Vishwash Kumar Ramesh.

Flight data shows an AI159 flight landed in London yesterday after a three-hour delay. One passenger had reportedly rebooked after missing AI171.
