President Trump on Tuesday escalated rhetoric against Iran, calling for its “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER” and revealing the U.S. knows the location of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. “He is an easy target, but is safe there — We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,” Trump wrote on social media. “Our patience is wearing thin.”
Trump also claimed the U.S. has “complete and total control of the skies over Iran,” and said American-made defenses surpass Iran’s. The president’s comments marked a shift as he used “we” to reference military action, after previously distancing the U.S. from Israel’s strikes.
After leaving the G7 summit early, Trump urged Tehran’s residents to evacuate, calling the situation a “waste of human life.”
He also criticized Iran for not accepting a nuclear deal. “They should have done the deal,” he told reporters aboard Air Force One. Iran maintains its nuclear program is peaceful.
