A ballistic missile fired by Iran struck Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, southern Israel, early Thursday, prompting evacuations and heightened tensions in the region. The strike was part of a wider assault involving dozens of missiles targeting various locations across Israel.

“The Iranian regime targeted Soroka Hospital in Beersheba with a ballistic missile — hitting a major medical center,” Israel’s official account stated. “We will not stand by. We will continue doing what must be done to defend our people.”

Israeli police confirmed the evacuation of 20 patients from the hospital, though a full sweep was still underway. Smoke was seen billowing from the hospital following the impact.

In central Israel, missile trails were visible over Netanya, while emergency units responded to several impact zones.

“Police officers and bomb disposal units are on scene and urged public to stay clear of all impact sites,” police said. Iran’s leader also warned the U.S. that “war will be met with war.”
