President Donald Trump has extended the deadline for TikTok to secure a non-Chinese buyer by another 90 days, pushing the ban to September 17, 2025.

The announcement, made via Trump’s Truth Social platform, marks the third delay in the enforcement of a federal law citing national security concerns.

“I’ve just signed the Executive Order extending the deadline for the TikTok closing for 90 days (September 17, 2025),” Trump stated. The law had originally scheduled the ban for January 19, a day before Trump’s inauguration.

Trump, whose 2024 campaign leveraged social media, expressed a fondness for TikTok, saying, “I have a little warm spot in my heart for TikTok. If it needs an extension, I would be willing to give it an extension.”

TikTok responded positively. “We are grateful for President Trump’s leadership and support in ensuring that TikTok continues to be available for more than 170 million American users,” the company said in a statement.

Negotiations with potential U.S. buyers remain ongoing.
