A former All Progressives Congress (APC) support group led by Ismaila Abu Ishaq has declared support for ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential ambition. Atiku’s media office revealed Thursday that Ishaq, once part of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, has rebranded his group as the Coalition for Project Rescue Nigeria 2027.

During a visit to Atiku’s Abuja residence, the group said its mission is to rescue Nigeria from “a failed APC leadership.” They emphasized the need for a “tested, credible, and visionary leader” to address insecurity, poverty, poor infrastructure, and economic hardship. The Obasanjo-Atiku administration was praised for laying developmental foundations.

Describing the coalition as a “national salvation effort,” Ishaq stressed its goal of restoring unity and prosperity.

Atiku welcomed the group and pledged mentorship to young Nigerians involved. He criticized the current administration, stating that a strong economy had deteriorated under President Bola Tinubu and urged active democratic engagement.
