The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has launched a mobile app to improve coordination among members and curb engineering quackery. The “NSE Members app,” now available on Google Play and App Store, was unveiled Thursday in Abuja by the Director-General of NITDA, Malam Kashifu Inuwa, represented by Mr. Salisu Kaka.

“This innovation aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s digital public infrastructure agenda,” Inuwa said, lauding the app as a milestone in local content development.

NSE President, Mrs. Margaret Oguntala, said the app will help identify legitimate engineers. “I can quickly log into the app to confirm whether the person is a registered NSE member,” she noted.

The app also facilitates member registration for projects, training, and social initiatives.

This move comes amid rising concerns over unqualified builders. Between 1974 and 2019, over 221 buildings collapsed in Nigeria. Lagos State is enforcing stricter regulations to combat substandard materials and unauthorized practitioners.
