“Brelok whacked him and then ate him for f***ing two weeks,” a Russian soldier was heard saying in an intercepted call.
Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR) has accused a Russian soldier of killing and eating his comrade on the battlefield, based on an intercepted phone call.
In the recording, a Russian soldier is heard telling a colleague: “Brelok whacked him and then ate him for f***ing two weeks.” The term “200” was used to confirm the comrade was killed.
While the audio remains unverified, HUR regularly publishes intercepted calls allegedly from Russian troops.
Ukraine says Russia has deployed convicted criminals to the frontlines, some with violent histories. Among them is Dmitry Malyshev, jailed for killing and eating a man’s heart, and Alexander Maslennikov, who murdered two women and used a meat grinder to dispose of their bodies.
Both were released early and joined the military in 2023. Malyshev confessed: “I put it [the heart] in a frying pan and started frying it… then I ate it.”
Ukraine warns such conscripts could worsen military discipline and morale within Russian ranks.
