Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has claimed that a coalition of political leaders opposing President Bola Tinubu is united by a common goal to “rescue” Nigeria from what he described as a threat posed by “urban bandits.”

Speaking on Arise News on Monday, El-Rufai said, “This country is targeted for destruction by a collection of urban bandits. Let’s come together, send them back home and put this country back on track.”

He emphasized that none of the coalition members is currently pushing personal ambitions. “Nobody is talking about his ambition, and that has been very good so far. And I’m encouraged,” he added.

El-Rufai, who was a key supporter of Tinubu in 2023, has since defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Now a prominent figure in the anti-Tinubu coalition, he asserted that Tinubu would not return to the presidential villa after the 2027 election
