With Mykhailo Mudryk facing suspension and other options limited, Chelsea have intensified efforts to land England U21 star Jamie Gittens.
Chelsea are pushing to complete a deal for Borussia Dortmund winger Jamie Gittens, with talks progressing steadily. Manager Enzo Maresca has prioritized the signing of a right-footed winger to play on the left, following the club’s decision not to pursue Jadon Sancho.
Despite interest from Bayern Munich, Chelsea remain confident of securing the England Under-21 star. Two bids have been rejected, but the Blues are preparing an improved offer, with Dortmund valuing Gittens at £50 million.
Chelsea officials reportedly held in-person talks with Dortmund during the Club World Cup. Gittens, a Manchester City academy product, scored 12 goals last season but has struggled for minutes under Niko Kovac’s new system.
FIFA rules would prevent him from playing in the tournament if signed mid-competition.
With Mudryk facing doping charges, and limited options on the left, Chelsea are also eyeing Malick Fofana, Alejandro Garnacho, and Mohammed Kudus. Meanwhile, striker Nicolas Jackson’s suspension has been extended to two matches after review.
