Iran executed three men on Wednesday for allegedly collaborating with Israel’s Mossad.

Iran has executed three men convicted of collaborating with Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, the judiciary’s Mizan news agency reported on Wednesday.

According to Mizan, the individuals were found guilty of smuggling equipment used in the assassination of an unnamed personality. The agency did not disclose further details about the identity of the target or the date of the incident.

“Iranian intelligence forces identified and apprehended the network behind the operation,” the report added, without naming the suspects.

Tehran has long accused Mossad of conducting covert operations on its soil, including the assassinations of nuclear scientists and acts of sabotage targeting its nuclear facilities.

In recent years, Iran has ramped up its counterintelligence efforts, often announcing the arrests and executions of individuals it claims are connected to Israeli or Western spy agencies.

The execution comes amid heightened tensions in the region and a continued shadow conflict between Iran and Israel.

Officials did not say where the executions were carried out.
