The Federal Government has begun handing over houses to 1994 Super Eagles players, fulfilling a 31-year-old promise made after their AFCON victory.

The Federal Government has fulfilled its 31-year-old promise of allocating houses to members of the 1994 Super Eagles team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia.

In a statement released Wednesday, it was confirmed that former striker Efan Ekoku received an allocation letter for a house in Abuja. Represented by his niece, Lisa Jenifer Nwagbogun, the letter was presented by Pemi Temitope, Director of Public Building and Housing Development, on behalf of the Housing Minister.

Temitope said the move reflects the government’s commitment to honouring those who brought glory to the nation.

Nwagbogun expressed gratitude to the Federal Government and the Housing Ministry for fulfilling the long-standing pledge.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the implementation of the housing pledge in 2022. While some players are receiving homes in different states, Ekoku’s allocation is in Abuja.
