The head of the U.N. nuclear watchdog, Rafael Grossi, warned Sunday that Iran could resume enriching uranium within months, casting doubt on the effectiveness of recent U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

“The capacities they have are there. They can have, you know, in a matter of months… a few cascades of centrifuges spinning,” Grossi told CBS News.

He added, “Frankly speaking, one cannot claim that everything has disappeared.”

Earlier this month, Israel launched strikes on Iranian nuclear sites, prompting a 12-day air war involving the U.S., aimed at halting Iran’s nuclear capabilities. Iran insists its nuclear program remains peaceful.

Grossi said attacks on Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan set Iran back but did not erase its knowledge. “You cannot disinvent this,” he noted.

Regarding Iran’s stock of enriched uranium, Grossi said, “Some could have been destroyed… but some could have been moved.”
