Notorious bandit kingpin Kachalla Yellow Danbokolo has been killed in Zamfara State following a fierce battle with Shinkafi Volunteer Forces, security sources confirmed.
Danbokolo, described as even more dangerous than his cousin Bello Turji, died from gunshot injuries sustained in a surprise raid. Over 173 bandits loyal to him were also killed in the operation.
“We are in a serious celebration mood,” a Kurya District resident said. “Danbokolo is the man behind the mask. Turji merely communicates while Danbokolo executes all the evil.”
Locals have celebrated the killings, hoping for an end to years of extortion and violence.
Security sources would not confirm the Department of State Services’ role, saying the agency has maintained “stealth mode.”
Residents say Turji’s fighters are fleeing or seeking amnesty.
“This is the first time we believe these bandits will soon be gone for good,” a villager added.
