President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Saint Lucia is reportedly a cover for a private medical consultation, SaharaReporters has learned from insider sources. According to them, the trip was facilitated by Gilbert Chagoury, a close ally of Tinubu and Honorary Consul of Saint Lucia to the Vatican.
“It’s a clever decoy,” one source claimed. “The only reason why President Tinubu is in St. Lucia is that it provides a good decoy to arrange for his doctors to meet him without the prying eyes of Nigerian journalists.”
Sources say Chagoury previously arranged Tinubu’s attendance at Pope Leo XIV’s Vatican inauguration in a similar fashion.
Though the Presidency states the visit is to strengthen diplomatic ties under Nigeria’s “Four D’s” foreign policy, critics view it as another opaque medical trip—raising concern over Tinubu’s health and transparency. Tinubu’s frequent medical visits abroad, particularly to France, have drawn public scrutiny and criticism.
