Youths in Lafiagi, Edu LGA of Kwara State, protested Monday against escalating insecurity, torching the NDLEA office and vandalizing the Emir’s palace. The unrest followed fresh abductions, including a popular POS agent, Yman, and two Hausa men during a violent raid on Kokodo village. A young girl narrowly escaped.

“We have been crying and dying in silence,” a resident told SaharaReporters. “People are being kidnapped every week… not even the Emir is doing anything about it.”

Residents cited government inaction as the trigger for the protest. “The youths are tired, and no tangible actions are coming from the government,” another source said.

In the last 12 hours alone, three people were abducted, following Sunday’s kidnapping of an agro-chemical dealer known as Alhaji Chemical. The attackers, reportedly Fulani bandits, overpowered vigilantes using superior firepower.

Security operatives have been briefed, and search efforts are underway as tensions remain high in the region.
