Al Hilal head coach Simone Inzaghi has praised his team’s “extraordinary” effort after their dramatic 4-3 victory over Manchester City in the Club World Cup Round of 16 early Tuesday.

City took an early lead through Bernardo Silva, but goals from Marcos Leonardo and Malcom gave Al Hilal the advantage. Erling Haaland and Phil Foden equalized twice for City, while Kalidou Koulibaly also scored for the Saudi side.

Leonardo’s second goal in the 112th minute sealed the win.

“We knew had to do something extraordinary if we were to beat Manchester City and that is what the boys did tonight, the lads were simply wonderful,” Inzaghi said post-match.
