Twenty men were found dead after a violent weekend in Mexico’s Sinaloa state, including four decapitated bodies hanging from a bridge near a bag of human heads.
Mexican authorities have confirmed the discovery of 20 bodies — including four decapitated corpses hanging upside down from a bridge — following a gruesome outbreak of cartel violence in Sinaloa state over the weekend.
According to the Sinaloa State Attorney General’s Office, all victims were male and had gunshot wounds. Five of the bodies were decapitated, with four left hanging by their feet along a highway bridge near Culiacán. The fifth headless body was found nearby in a van, alongside 14 others. A plastic bag containing five human heads was found close to the bridge.
The van carried a banner referencing ongoing turf wars between rival cartels Los Chapitos and La Mayiza. The violence is part of a broader power struggle following the kidnapping and extradition of a cartel leader linked to El Chapo Guzmán.
“Military and police forces are working together to reestablish total peace in Sinaloa,” said state spokesperson Feliciano Castro on Monday. Twenty-seven murders were recorded in Sinaloa on Sunday alone.
