Vowing reform, he urged: “Hold me accountable. Challenge me when I stray. And stand with me as we begin this journey to rebuild our party.”
Former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola has been named Interim National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Announcing his acceptance, Aregbesola criticised Nigeria’s political scene. “Our political landscape is plagued by parties that lack ideological depth. They are empty shells, merging and splitting… over power and personality,” he said.
He praised the ADC for its principles: “The ADC is not perfect, but it stands for something. It was forged in resistance, sharpened by vision, and led by men and women who believe in justice, dignity, equality, inclusivity of all interests and true freedom.”
Vowing reform, he urged: “Hold me accountable. Challenge me when I stray. And stand with me as we begin this journey to rebuild our party.”
Aregbesola previously served as Minister of Interior and Lagos State Commissioner for Works. His appointment marks a new phase for the ADC as it seeks to strengthen its ideological foundation and expand its national profile.
