“Basola Jamiu Owodunni remains an unknown entity to the Board concerning admission,” JAMB said, stressing that emotions cannot override regulations.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied claims by Basola Jamiu, a Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) graduate, who said he was admitted in 2018 but later discovered the admission was fake after graduating in 2024. JAMB spokesperson Fabian Benjamin stated that Jamiu had no record in JAMB’s database and was not admitted through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS), Nigeria’s sole legitimate admission platform since 2017.
“Basola Jamiu Owodunni remains an unknown entity to the Board concerning admission,” JAMB said, stressing that emotions cannot override regulations. The board also questioned the authenticity of a document Jamiu holds, saying it did not originate from its system.
Though acknowledging he may have attended FUTA, JAMB insists he was not properly admitted and cannot be made eligible for NYSC. The board warned against backdoor admissions and urged the public to remain objective, adding that efforts continue to protect candidates from exploitation.
