The former Special Assistant on Digital Media to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, has debunked reports that the retired general is critically ill and receiving treatment in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Ahmad made the clarification in a statement on Thursday, following speculation over Buhari’s health condition.
“In light of the recent media reports suggesting that former President Muhammadu Buhari is critically ill and has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), we find it necessary to set the record straight,” the statement read.
He confirmed Buhari is currently unwell and receiving medical attention but described reports of critical illness as exaggerated.
“Contrary to the exaggerated claims circulating in the media, he is stable and responding well to treatment,” Ahmad said.
He thanked Nigerians and global supporters for their prayers, adding, “We continue to pray for his complete and speedy recovery.”
