A man has been arrested after several people were stabbed at a shopping centre in Tampere, Finland, police confirm.
Several people were stabbed at the Ratina shopping centre in Tampere, southern Finland, on Tuesday, authorities said.
Police arrested one suspect, described by local media as a man, and cordoned off the scene while providing first aid to victims.
“The situation no longer poses a danger to outsiders,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.
Witnesses are being interviewed as investigations continue. Officials have not disclosed the extent of injuries or the motive behind the attack.
Tampere is Finland’s third-largest city, located about 112 miles northwest of Helsinki.
Public broadcaster YLE reported that traffic in the city centre was halted, while local outlet Aamulehti confirmed the arrest of one male suspect.
