Some Ministry of Interior insiders alleged that top officials linked to the Interior Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, may have stakes in Saana Pay.
Dozens of Nigerian passport applicants and agents have been left stranded following the abrupt replacement of the TeasyPay platform with a new system called Saana Pay by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
Sources told SaharaReporters that users are unable to access or withdraw funds after topping their Saana Pay wallets to process passport applications. “We’ve funded the wallet on Saana Pay, but can’t make any payment or withdraw our money. The funds are just hanging,” one agent said.
Another lamented having over ₦500,000 trapped, saying, “I had to borrow money to refund some applicants.”
Some Ministry of Interior insiders alleged that top officials linked to the Interior Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, may have stakes in Saana Pay. “They removed TCP to bring in Saana Pay because they are connected to the owners,” the source claimed.
NIS spokesperson Akinsola Akinlabi confirmed the issue but denied any official connection. “Our technical team is working round the clock to resolve it,” he said.
