“They told me they were sent just to kill him and wouldn’t leave until they completed their mission,” she said, sobbing.

Gang violence in Kano State has escalated into home invasions and brutal killings, with four people murdered last weekend in Kurna Mayanka, Yan Yashi, and Tudun Fulani.

Among the victims was Usman Hamidan, beheaded inside his home as his elderly mother, Hajiya Habi Hamidan, watched helplessly.

“They told me they were sent just to kill him and wouldn’t leave until they completed their mission,” she said, sobbing.

Local vigilante chairman Alhaji Bashir Lawal Moriki blamed parents for shielding criminals. “These boys are from this community, not from the sky,” he said.

A young security guard, Sabiu, survived knife attacks. “You can see the wounds on my head,” he told reporters.

Residents say drug abuse fuels the violence, while indiscriminate police arrests spread fear.

Kano State Commissioner for Internal Security, AVM Ibrahim Umar (Rtd.), urged residents to protect themselves until security forces arrive. Police did not respond to requests for comment on ongoing investigations.
