Iran has announced it will not carry out further retaliation against the United States following recent U.S. airstrikes on its nuclear facilities. The U.S., under President Donald Trump, bombed Iranian nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan after escalating conflict with Israel. Iran responded with missile attacks on Tel Aviv and later targeted a U.S. base in Qatar.
Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi told NBC News, “As long as there is no act of aggression being perpetrated by the United States against us, we will not respond again.” He described the June 21 U.S. strike as “a naked act of aggression” that caused “serious damage.”
Takht-Ravanchi stated Iran remains open to talks but added, “The U.S. government needs to convince us that they are not going to use military force while we are negotiating.”
He reaffirmed Iran’s right to enrich uranium under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, saying, “Our policy has not changed on enrichment.”
