“You want to rescue your stomach, not Nigeria,” Wike said at an FCT thanksgiving service.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has lashed out at members of the newly formed opposition coalition, accusing them of pursuing selfish interests rather than national rescue.
Speaking during a thanksgiving service to mark the completion of FCT projects on Sunday, Wike questioned the sincerity of leaders like Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and others.
“You want to rescue your stomach; it’s not Nigerians you want to rescue,” Wike said. He accused them of switching political parties for personal gain, adding, “Nigerians are angry with you.”
The minister slammed former officeholders for poor performance during their time in power, citing infrastructural failures and corruption. “You were a minister for eight years and now you know Nigerians are angry?” he asked.
Wike urged Christians to support President Tinubu’s administration with prayers and patience, dismissing the coalition’s chances in 2027.
“They had their chance to fix Nigeria. They won’t have that chance again,” Wike said.
