“This is not leadership. It’s a scramble for survival,” ADC states.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of launching food reforms not out of concern for Nigerians, but in fear of losing the 2027 elections.
In a statement on Sunday, ADC spokesperson Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi said the government’s sudden commitment to food security, as announced by presidential aide Bayo Onanuga, is a “confession” of earlier inaction.
“This is not reform. This is not leadership. This is a scramble for survival,” Abdullahi said.
The ADC argued that Tinubu’s administration had deliberately ignored Nigeria’s hunger crisis until the opposition coalition, led by the ADC, gained momentum.
“Without the pressure mounted by the coalition, the government would have persisted in its calculated indifference,” the statement read.
Accusing the APC of “weaponising poverty,” the ADC said Nigerians must not be fooled by “choreographed” reforms.
“The president is not governing; he is campaigning two years early,” Abdullahi added. “This is desperation, not governance.”
