NATO raises World War 3 concerns over possible joint Russia-China attack

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has warned of a possible coordinated attack by Russia and China that could spark World War 3.

Speaking to The New York Times, Rutte said China might attempt to annex Taiwan while prompting Russia to attack NATO’s eastern flank. “Let’s not be naïve about this,” he said. “If Xi Jinping would attack Taiwan, he would first make sure… to keep them busy in Europe by attacking NATO territory.”

Rutte urged NATO members to ramp up military spending, stressing that Russia is rearming at a pace “unparalleled in recent history.”

“They are now producing three times as much ammunition in three months as the whole of NATO is doing in a year,” he warned, citing alliances with North Korea, China, and Iran.

He emphasized strengthening ties with the Indo-Pacific region, noting, “Working together on defence industry, innovation… is something President [Donald] Trump is very much promoting.”
