JAMB has listed Anambra and Imo as leading states in UTME fingerprinting malpractice, with 19 CBT centres flagged nationwide.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday named Anambra and Imo states as the top offenders in UTME exam malpractice involving biometric fraud. The data, presented at the board’s 2025 policy meeting, revealed that six centres in Anambra and four in Imo were among 19 CBT centres caught nationwide.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, also disclosed impersonators employed tactics such as using albinos for image bending and remote uploads.
Meanwhile, in Katsina, the police arraigned two persons—Bolanwu Emmanuel and Ibrahim Abdulaziz—before a Federal High Court for alleged impersonation during the 2025 UTME.
Prosecutor Abdussalam Danmaidaki said Abdulaziz wrote the exam for Emmanuel at Zee Alpha International School, Funtua, using Emmanuel’s registration number. Both pleaded not guilty.
The offences are punishable under the Examination Malpractice Act, Cap E15, Laws of the Federation, 2004.
Justice Hussaini Dadan-Garba adjourned the matter to July 18 for trial.
