Linda Yaccarino has resigned as Chief Executive Officer of X, the Elon Musk-owned social media platform formerly known as Twitter. In a tweet on Wednesday, Yaccarino announced her departure after two years, citing no specific reason but describing the move as part of “a new chapter” following the platform’s acquisition by Musk’s AI company, xAI.
“After two incredible years, I’ve decided to step down as CEO,” she wrote. “I’m immensely grateful to him for entrusting me with the responsibility of protecting free speech, turning the company around, and transforming X into the Everything App.”
Yaccarino lauded the X team’s efforts in restoring advertiser trust and enhancing user safety. “This team has worked relentlessly from groundbreaking innovations like Community Notes, and, soon, X Money,” she stated, adding, “Now, the best is yet to come as X enters a new chapter with #xai.”
She joined X in June 2023, after serving as an advertising executive at NBCUniversal.
