The bullet wounds helped the police dispute the claim of the girl’s family that she had committed suicide,” revealed an officer
A 16‑year‑old girl was shot dead by her father on Tuesday after she refused to delete her TikTok account, police confirmed. Authorities in Rawalpindi say the victim, Mehak Shahzadi, had repeatedly defied her father’s order to deactivate the app. He reportedly opened fire when she refused again.
Following the shooting, the family attempted to portray the incident as a suicide, but police identified bullet wounds inconsistent with that claim. According to an FIR lodged by Head Constable Shahbaz Anjum, the father fled the scene but was later arrested and the firearm recovered.
Police say the killing was carried out “for honour,” echoing broader concerns over honour‑based violence in Pakistan. This case follows other violent reactions to women’s use of social media, including the June killing of popular TikToker Sana Yousaf.
