The Labour Party (LP) has announced that its 2027 presidential ticket will be open to all aspirants, stressing that no candidate will receive preferential treatment. LP National Publicity Secretary Abayomi Arabambi made this declaration during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday.
Arabambi criticized the party’s 2023 decision to field Peter Obi, calling it “a blunder with lasting consequences and a betrayal of Nigerians.” He stated, “There shall be primary elections in the Labour Party, and no aspirant will be favored this time around.”
Peter Obi, who finished third in the last presidential election and recently joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, intends to run again in 2027. Arabambi dismissed the coalition, labeling it as composed of “Yahoo Yahoo politicians” and said, “Such a coalition must be rejected.”
“We wish Obi well in his yahoo yahoo coalition but to let him know that the Labour Party presidential ticket is now open to all Nigerians,” he added.
