Louis van Gaal has revealed he’s now cancer-free and open to returning as national team coach. “I’m no longer bothered by cancer,” he said.
Veteran Dutch coach Louis van Gaal says he has been cured of cancer and is considering a return to international football.
The 73-year-old, who revealed in 2021 that he had prostate cancer, told a Dutch TV show: “I’m no longer bothered by cancer.” Van Gaal last worked as the Netherlands’ coach at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. “Two years ago, I had a few operations. It was all bad then.
But it all worked out in the end,” he said. While ruling out a return to club management, he said a national team role could tempt him. Van Gaal, currently a special advisor to Ajax, previously managed top clubs like Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester United.
