The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken an early lead in Lagos State’s local government elections held across 57 councils on Saturday. Voting concluded around 3 p.m., with results still being collated amid a noticeable low voter turnout.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, after casting his ballot at his Adeniji-Adele ward, acknowledged early delays in the process, attributing them to logistical issues.

APC chairmanship candidate for Yaba LCDA, Adebayo Adefuye, praised the poll as “smooth, free and fair.” He emphasized its grassroots significance and introduced his development agenda, “Yaba tuntun” (New Yaba), aimed at correcting past governance missteps. Adefuye also lauded the Federal Government’s enforcement of local government financial autonomy, commending President Bola Tinubu for the initiative.
