“I see Messi doing very well, and I believe Messi will be in good shape for the 2026 World Cup.”
Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazário has backed Lionel Messi to perform strongly for Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Speaking with DSports, Ronaldo praised Messi’s recent displays at the Club World Cup, saying the veteran forward still has much to contribute to the game.
“I’ve been watching Leo [Lionel Messi] in the Club World Cup matches and he still has things to offer,” Ronaldo said.
“He always reads the game well. If he loses the ball, he tries to win it back. I see Messi doing very well, and I believe Messi will be in good shape for the 2026 World Cup.”
Messi, 38, led Inter Miami to the last-16 stage of the Club World Cup in the United States but was unable to prevent a 4-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain, ending the club’s run in the tournament.
Despite the setback, Ronaldo remains optimistic about Messi’s future on the international stage.
