Presidential aspirant Peter Obi has dismissed claims that his recent act of serving food at an Imo State event was not politically motivated. Speaking via his X account on July 13, 2025, Obi said the gesture stemmed from humility, not campaign strategy.

“My weekend activity of serving food… has been generating interest… because leaders in our society have removed the service component in leadership,” he wrote.

Obi explained the event, Jubilee of Hope, was intended to highlight leadership through service and compassion. “It wasn’t about the cameras; it was about conscience,” he said.

He added that others, including Cardinal John Onaiyekan and ex-Seplat chairman A.B.C. Orjiako, also served food.

Obi clarified that he didn’t publicize the act himself, calling critics “paid agents” twisting sincerity into politics.

“Humility is not a campaign strategy; it is a way of life,” he said, urging Nigerians to embrace consistent compassion.
