At least 151 senior officers in the Nigeria Police Force are currently facing a disciplinary panel over alleged misconduct, ethical breaches, and unprofessional conduct, according to Daily Trust. The Force Disciplinary Committee began sitting on July 14 at the Force Headquarters in Abuja and will conclude after 10 days, forwarding recommendations to the Police Service Commission.

Sources suggested the probe may also be linked to plans for a protest over poor welfare. “They are saying ‘misconduct’, they should disclose the details of their offences. I’m not saying there are no bad eggs but over 150? Haba!” a source said.

Force spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi emphasized transparency, stating, “The Nigeria Police Force will not condone any form of indiscipline or misconduct.”

Since 2023, 34 officers have been dismissed for offences ranging from extortion to kidnapping. Executive Director of RULAAC, Okechukwu Nwanguma, urged fairness: “We want to be sure that persecution or victimisation is not disguised as discipline.”
