“Peter Obi is our product and the PDP indeed wants to get him back… any political party that will have him will be to their advantage,” said PDP’s Ibrahim Abdullahi.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it is actively working to bring back Peter Obi ahead of the 2027 presidential elections.

Speaking on Arise News, PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Abdullahi described Obi as “a great capital for any political party,” and confirmed that discussions are underway to return the former Anambra governor to the party’s fold.

“Peter Obi is our product, and the PDP indeed wants to get him back,” Abdullahi said. “He proved his mettle by generating over six million votes despite the rigging and frustrations he faced.”

Obi left the PDP in 2022 and ran for president under the Labour Party in 2023, winning 12 states, including the FCT, but came third.

His future remains unclear, as he recently reaffirmed his LP membership while aligning with a new coalition under the African Democratic Congress.

Meanwhile, PDP’s 2023 flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar, has resigned from the party and joined the coalition pushing to unseat President Tinubu in 2027.
