One thing is certain, as the PDP becomes more formidable, many who have moved to the ADC will realise there’s no viable path in that direction.
A senior People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader in Lagos, Prince Laja Adeoye, has dismissed concerns that former vice‑presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar’s departure will weaken the party. Speaking to reporters, Adeoye, a House of Representatives aspirant for Oshodi‑Isolo Constituency, insisted that Atiku’s exit signals an opportunity for regeneration rather than collapse.
Describing the move as a recurring pattern, Adeoye emphasised, “PDP cannot die because one man left the party, as you know, this is not the first time Atiku is exiting the PDP, the party stands, regardless.” He affirmed the party is restructuring and will “emerge stronger for 2027,” adding that many who migrated to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will return once the PDP’s momentum grows. Adeoye underscored that any viable coalition must be led by the PDP, which he cited as “Africa’s largest political party,” cautioning that alternatives amount to “futile efforts.”
