Members of the pro-Peter Obi group, known as Obidients, have called on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to step down from the 2027 presidential race and support Obi to secure the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ticket.
The call was made during a mega rally held across several Abia State towns — Umuahia, Aba, Ohafia, and Uzuakoli — to mark Obi’s 64th birthday. The event, themed “One Million Man-March for Obi,” drew large crowds of supporters.
Speaking to journalists in Umuahia, the Abia State chairman of the rally’s organising committee, Chibuzor Obiesili, urged Atiku to make a “great sacrifice” for Nigeria by backing Obi.
“We thank those behind the formation of the coalition. We appeal that the coalition should consider Obi as its presidential ticket because he has the national appeal needed to uproot the ruling APC,” Obiesili said.
“We plead with Atiku to please step aside for Obi… his greatest gift to Nigeria will be to support Obi,” he added.
