“If you’re looking to study and stay abroad, these seven countries offer Nigerian graduates a clear path to residency and citizenship.”
Many Nigerian students studying abroad now have a smoother path to permanent residency, thanks to post-study immigration policies adopted by several countries.
A new report highlights seven nations—Canada, France, Germany, UK, Norway, Ireland, and Finland—as top destinations for Nigerian students seeking long-term settlement after graduation.
Canada offers a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) and access to Express Entry via the Canadian Experience Class.
France allows a two-year stay under the APS visa, while Germany permits an 18-month job search leading to PR after 33 months of work.
The UK’s Graduate Route allows two to three years of post-study stay, leading to Indefinite Leave to Remain.
Norway, Ireland, and Finland also provide generous work permits and eventual PR for students with jobs.
“These countries value international graduates and provide long-term opportunities to settle, work, and contribute to society,” the report noted.
For Nigerians seeking both education and immigration, these destinations offer an academic-to-residency pipeline worth considering.
