Ghana’s Ambassador to Nigeria has fallen victim to a burglary in Abuja, with intruders stealing valuables including TVs, gas cylinders, and rice.
The official residence of Ghana’s Ambassador to Nigeria was burgled by unidentified individuals on July 11 in Maitama, Abuja. The intruders reportedly cut through perimeter fence wires and broke through the back door to access the property.
According to The Punch, the thieves stole two plasma television sets, gas cylinders, and two bags of rice. A domestic staff member said a temporary power outage may have enabled the break-in.
“Around 2 am that day, there was a power cut, so I went to the back to switch on the generator… At about 5 am, I went around to check and saw that a window was open. One of the burglary-proof rods had been removed,” the staffer recounted.
Police have cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to identify the culprits. The incident has sparked concerns over the safety of diplomatic residences in Abuja, especially in affluent districts like Maitama, where security is presumed to be tighter.
