Peter Obi has shrugged off Governor Monday Okpebholo’s directive to seek security clearance before visiting Edo State, declaring, “I will go to Edo any time I want.”
The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has dismissed the warning by Governor Monday Okpebholo, who asked him to seek security clearance before entering Edo State.
Obi made the remarks at Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha, Anambra State, on Thursday, where he donated ₦50 million on behalf of the college’s old boys’ association to support the management’s development efforts.
Reacting to Okpebholo’s directive for the first time, Obi advised the governor to support public institutions instead of issuing threats.
“I’m used to receiving threats. I will go to Edo any time I want,” he told reporters.
The former Anambra State governor was received at CKC by the Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, along with staff and students.
Obi praised the school for its “phenomenal work,” adding that the donation was a collective effort by some of his classmates.
The Archbishop lauded Obi’s commitment to building a better Nigeria.
