Ekiti PDP has told Fayose to quit, accusing him of sabotaging the same party that made him governor twice.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has asked former Governor Ayo Fayose to resign from the party, accusing him of consistent anti-party activities.
In a statement on Saturday, Chairman of the caretaker committee, Dare Adeleke, said the party would no longer tolerate Fayose’s public ridicule of the PDP.
This follows Fayose’s claim on Channels TV that the PDP in Ekiti and nationally was “dead” and incapable of winning elections.
Adeleke accused Fayose of betrayal, noting his open support for the APC government in the state and his alleged lobbying for local government control.
“Why has Fayose refused to leave the same party he repeatedly described as a ‘carcass’ and ‘dead entity’?” Adeleke asked.
“Fayose wants rewards from the same party he undermines,” he added.
He said Fayose’s anger stemmed from the party’s refusal to grant him control of two local government areas, despite his diminishing influence in the state.
