If the party refuses to listen, we will take stronger action. We want fresh leadership and accountability

Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State staged a demonstration at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday, demanding the removal of the party’s state chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi. Protesters, drawn from the state’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), raised concerns over alleged leadership failures and imposition of candidates.

The protest began in the early hours, with demonstrators chanting slogans and carrying signs reading “Ojelabi Must Go” and “We Want Fresh Leadership”. The group expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as a lack of internal democracy within the party.

A robust police deployment surrounded the Assembly complex to maintain order and prevent escalation. Tensions remained high as the crowd pressed its demands for the immediate removal of Cornelius Ojelabi from office.

Kadri Hamzat, Lagos’s Deputy Governor, visited the scene to pacify protesters. He described the matter as a party affair and assured that it would be addressed internally and in due time.
