Former Borno State governor Ali Modu Sheriff has claimed that Peter Obi, who contested the 2023 presidential election under the Labour Party, is set to return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and run for president in 2027. Sheriff made the statement during an interview, declaring that Obi’s return to the PDP could happen soon.

“Any moment from now, Peter Obi would go back to the PDP and run as a presidential candidate under the PDP,” Sheriff said.

He dismissed the strength of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where Obi is currently aligned through a coalition, insisting the party has no future.

“ADC doesn’t exist. Give the party three months and it will die down,” he added.

Obi had left the PDP in May 2022 to join the Labour Party, emerging as a major contender in the last election. Despite Sheriff’s claim, the ADC maintains that Obi remains committed to the coalition’s plans.
