U.S. President Donald Trump’s approval rating has dropped to 40 percent, the lowest level of his second term in office
U.S. President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen to 40 percent, marking the lowest point of his second term in office, according to a recent poll conducted over three days ending July 29.
The survey of 1,023 American adults found stark partisan divides: 83 percent of Republicans expressed approval, compared to just 3 percent of Democrats, with roughly one-third of independents approving of Trump’s performance. His prior poll reading mid-July had been 41 percent.
Approval for his execution of key campaign themes—immigration and the economy—remains mixed. 38 percent approved his handling of the economy, a slight uptick from 35 percent, and 43 percent backed his immigration policy—also a modest rise within the margin of error.
Highlighting growing unease, an 18-year-old North Carolina resident said: “I understand wanting to get rid of illegal immigrants, but the way that’s being done is very aggressive … And that’s why people are protesting, because it comes off as aggression.”
