The NCC has suspended piracy site MovieBox.ng, linking it to clone domains and copyright violations, as part of its STOP anti-piracy campaign.

The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), in partnership with the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), has shut down MovieBox.ng, a notorious website for pirated movies, music, and live sports.

NCC’s Director of Public Affairs, Ijeoma Egbunike, said in a Thursday statement that the suspension took effect on July 20, 2025. Director-General John Asein described the website as part of a piracy network using clone and mirror domains.

“They use multiple mirror domains to access and promote pirated content,” he said, linking the site to known piracy operations.

The move is part of NCC’s broader “Stand Together Against Online Piracy (STOP)” campaign.

NCC urged ISPs and the public to support anti-piracy efforts and avoid illegal streaming sites due to malware and scam risks.
