Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared Friday “Hulk Hogan Day” in honor of WWE legend Hulk Hogan, who died on July 24 at the age of 71 in Clearwater.
DeSantis announced Thursday that U.S. and Florida flags would be flown at half-staff at the state capitol and in Pinellas County, where Hogan had lived for the past 13 years.
“Hogan was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice, first in 2005 and again in 2020 as a member of the New World Order,” DeSantis said in a statement. “His larger-than-life personality will be missed.”
According to Pinellas County Forensic Science Center records obtained Thursday, Hogan died of a heart attack. He also had atrial fibrillation and a history of chronic lymphotic leukemia.
DeSantis described Hogan as a childhood “superhero,” adding, “Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and people throughout this region of Florida.”
