The nomination comes less than a month after the passing of Oba Owolabi Olakulehin on July 7, 2025.
The Olubadan-In-Council on Monday nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The decision was reached at a meeting held at the Olubadan Palace, Oke-Aremo, in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Although the new Olubadan was absent, the Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, presided over the gathering. “We (members of the Olubadan-In-Council) have all signed and nominated Oba Rashidi Ladoja as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland,” Ajibola announced.
He added that the council’s resolution would be forwarded to Governor Seyi Makinde, who will fix a date for the presentation of the staff of office. “The late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, will be buried this week. So, this week is not feasible. He (Makinde) may decide to pick three weeks, two weeks or one week,” he said.
The late Olubadan, Oba Olakulehin, passed away on July 7, 2025.
