Seventeen‑year‑old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu has emerged as the world’s best in English language skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London

Seventeen‑year‑old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu, a student of Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Yobe State, has been declared the world’s best in English at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals in London, United Kingdom.

The competition drew over 20,000 participants from 69 countries, encompassing both non‑native and native English‑speaking nations. Nafisa outperformed them in grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, public speaking and written communication to clinch the coveted title.

In a statement from her family, the achievement was attributed to “dedication, discipline and the enabling support of the Yobe State Government.” They paid tribute to Governor Mai Mala Buni, calling his investment in education visionary, and credited the school leadership for maintaining rigorous academic standards.

“Our daughter’s global success would not have been possible without the visionary support for education by His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, whose efforts have brought international honour to our state and nation,” the statement reads.

The Aminu family extended their gratitude to staff and management at NTIC for creating an environment that fosters excellence. They are also calling on both federal and state governments to formally recognise the win, emphasising that Nigerian students can compete and triumph when nurtured and supported.

The win has triggered celebrations across Nigeria, with reactions from social media to education stakeholders lauding Nafisa as an inspiration to young learners nationwide.
